Florida Roundtable Series
The Clean Earth Initiative has hosted conservation roundtables, park events, and other impactful programs across Florida. These gatherings have brought together more than 120 nonprofit organizations, elected officials, and policymakers to address key issues facing Floridians. CEI, with Dr. Jill Griffin of Hobe Sound Nature Center and Dr. Peaslee, traveled to Tallahassee to meet with 25 State Representatives and Senators. Our work focused on bills protecting water quality, human health, nature resiliency, and more. Specifically, we worked on HB441 Conservation Lands and HB1019 PFAS, which are in committee and will improve the lives of all Floridians.
CEI welcomed 15 State Representatives, Congressional offices and nonprofits to discuss water issues facing Florida. Thank you to The Reef Institute for cohosting and Might River Recovery, Estero Bay Buddies, Marine Resources Council, Save The Water & Dr. Graham Peaslee for speaking at this event.
Southwest Florida - On January 28th, 2025 we were honored to host 28 conservation nonprofits from Southwest Florida. A special Thank You to Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson and Eric Lane from the Collaboratory Community Foundation for joining us.
South Florida - In April, we were joined by conservation nonprofits serving South Florida. A special Thank You to Miami Dade County, Resiliency Director Julie Dick and Patrick Morris Director of Civic & Philanthropic Partnerships at Miami-Dade County Office of the Mayor for joining us.
Palm Beach & Treasure Coast - On February 24th, 2025, we were honored to host 30 conservation nonprofits serving Palm Beach County & the Treasure Coast. A special Thank You to State Representatives Meg Weinberger, Mike Caruso, and Palm Beach County Commissioner Gregg Weiss for joining us.
Volusia & Space Coast - On January 16th, 2025, we were honored to host 18 conservation nonprofits from Brevard, Volusia, and Flagler counties. A special Thank You to County Chair Jeff Brower and Ben Collins from the Community Foundation for joining us.
Washington DC - In June, CEI traveled to visit 20+ members of Congress. CEI raised awareness and discussed a variety of environmental issues, including testing for PFAS, disaster recovery, protection of Florida's coastlines, rivers, and springs, algal blooms, red tide, preventing offshore drilling, park accessibility, and wildlife protection.
Tampa Bay & Suncoast - On March 12th, we were joined by conservation nonprofits serving the Tampa Bay region. Shout out to special guest Ginger the Owl.
Blue Spring State Park - On Sunday, March 9th, we had a tour of Blue Spring State Park. This event was in partnership with the Friends of Blue Spring State Park (CSO). We discussed local conservation issues, policy and plans for the greater region. This includes the rolling hikes park accessibility program, water contaminants, state parks, and much more. Thank you to State Senator Randy Fine for joining, as well as Mayor of Daytona Beach Derrick Henry, Flagler County Chair, Andy Dance, and Mayor of Deltona, Santiago Avila, Jr.
